Steve Jobs often looks arrogant and dismissive of other companies,
especially its competitors. But in spite of her, the former CEO of
Apple turned out to marvel at leading technology companies,
Hewlett-Packard (HP). Jobs also said Intel and Walt Disney as the
other companies that he considers great.
Before he died, to Walter Isaacson, author of biographies about
himself, Jobs had expressed a desire to build a successful company in
which people are dedicated and have a strong motivation to produce a
variety of great products, not just the mere thought of a sales
strategy. According to him, most companies focus more on the way to
win the battle of business rather than making good products. Jobs in
the assessment, actually that's what should be done to provide a
masterpiece as well as adding what has been passed on the people who
had already been successful.
Jobs expressed his admiration for the duo of HP founders Bill Hewlett
and Dave Packard, about how they built a company that can last a long
time until now. "You managed to build a company that will last for one
or two generations from now. That's what had made by HP, Intel and
Walt Disney. They are able to survive in a fairly long period of time.
I wish Apple also like that," Jobs explained as quoted from his
biography, Monday (11/14/2011).
Jobs often scathing remark on its competitors. It was directed solely
because he just wanted to tell the truth about what was happening at
that time. "I never mean to harsh on anyone. However, if indeed they
produce is a bad product then I do not hesitate to say it directly in
front of them. I know what I say and usually I was on the right side,"
he asserted. Jobs does have special memories with HP. When he was
thirteen years old, teenage Jobs brave and curious to find Hewlett's
name in the phone book and call to get the parts he needs to assemble
a set of frequencies. His efforts ended with the arrival of an offer
to work in the HP equipment for the summer. On the last day worked
Jobs at Apple, he had expressed his disappointment to see HP now and
worrying about the future of Apple.
That day, exactly on the day of his resignation as CEO, the team at
Apple iPad to talk about success. Some team members boast of their
superiority over seoknya HP struggled in the realm of the tablet
because of competition with the iPad. Hear the fate of this much
admired company, Jobs actually somber and declare it is actually sad.
"Hewlett and Packard have managed to build a great company, and they
thought had been handed to people who are competent. But now
everything fell apart. I hope to leave a legacy that is more powerful
that those things will not happen to Apple," his determination .
